Pixel Moto's Groundbreaking 8-Bit Tail Light for Harley Davidson Riders

Harley Davidsons are phenomenal bikes. From the iconic sound of exhilaration to their soulful styling, they offer a unique experience in the motorcycle industry and foster a massive community. It’s safe to say that the first move after acquiring any Harley is to dive into the internet for customization ideas.

When it comes to personalization, lighting is one of the most impactful adjustments. For nearly three decades, most HD bikes have relied on the classic red bubble tail light with a silver base. Luckily, aftermarket suppliers have come to the rescue for HD owners, offering solutions that feature integrated turn signals, LEDs that outshine the OEM, and refined shapes that sit more flush with the rear fender.

Pixel Moto aims to give HD riders an entirely new way to make their bikes stand out from the crowd. “As a company, our goal is to enhance rider individuality through innovative customization options,” says founder Isaiah Jones. “This mission drives us to seek innovation in every aspect of our products. To kick things off, we’ve developed a tail light for Harley Davidson bikes that’s unlike anything currently on the market.”

Each PM tail light allows riders to choose from a menu of start-up animations at the press of a button. When you turn the key of your bike, the light will display a 1-3 second pattern of your choice before returning to its halo running light. Patterns can be easily adjusted via a wired-in button that can be mounted wherever the rider prefers. Designed for easy installation, the tail lights come with an OEM connector, making them a seamless plug-and-play solution. Plus, an app that enables users to create their own animations using AI is set to launch in late 2025.

To complement the diverse styles of start-up animations, the design of the light needed to break from the norm. The result is a rectangular profile with a geometric base that conforms to the curvature of the rear fender. It proudly showcases what can only be described as an 8-bit 5x3 pattern for LED projection. The tail light also feature integrated turn signals, allowing owners to ditch the side-mounted options. While this taillight is packed with refreshing technology, the 8-bit aesthetic pays homage to the vintage gaming era, adding a nostalgic flair to the bike.

Pixel Moto’s founder, Isaiah Jones, is an industrial designer with a background in experimental aerospace, automotive, and custom motorcycle design. The decision to start Pixel Moto came shortly after showcasing his Ducati Monster at Portland's One Moto Show in 2023, where he developed what would become the first Pixel Moto tail light prototype featuring a start-up animation and halo running light. Both features have been carried over to the soon-to-be-available production models.

Currently, Pixel Moto is ramping up production of tail lights for Harley Davidson’s Sportster, Dyna, and Low Rider models equipped with fender-mounted tail lights.

Following the launch of the 8-bit tail light, Pixel Moto plans to expand its unique design to more vehicles from the Harley Davidson lineup, including the Street Glide, Road Glide, and Nightster, and soon after branching out to other major manufacturers.
